Jelly Cinema TV Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 26, 2026
Jelly Cinema TV is an app made by TechSystems23 LLC (“we”, “us”) for watching your own movies and shows from a Jellyfin server on Android TV and Google TV. This policy explains what the app sends, where it goes, and what we see. The short version is that we don’t collect any information about you. The app has no accounts with us, no ads, no tracking and no analytics.
What the app talks to
- Your Jellyfin server. Everything the app shows comes from the Jellyfin server you sign in to: your libraries, what you’ve watched and your favorites. The app sends that server what any Jellyfin app sends: your sign-in, what you play and how far you got, and the TV’s name and model so the server can list it under Devices. Whoever runs that server can see this, as with any Jellyfin app. We don’t receive it.
- YouTube, for trailers. When the banner plays a title’s trailer, it uses YouTube’s official embedded player, so YouTube (Google) receives the request for that video and the TV’s network address. Google’s privacy policy applies to that. Trailer files stored on your own server don’t use YouTube. You can turn banner trailers off in Settings → Jelly Cinema.
- Crash reports, only if you agree. If the app crashes, it asks whether to send a report. If you choose Send report, technical details (what went wrong, the app version and the TV model) go to your own Jellyfin server, never to us or anyone else. No passwords are included. You can turn crash reports off in Settings → Crash reporting.
- Updates. The Google Play version is updated by Google Play. The free version from GitHub checks its release page, or your server, for a newer version; only the request for that file is sent.
- Purchases and tips. The Google Play version is a one-time purchase handled by Google Play; we don’t receive your payment details. It has no in-app purchases. The free GitHub version has an optional Support the developer page that shows a QR code for a tip page on your phone; the app itself sends nothing.
- Your TV’s home screen. If your TV supports it, the app adds rows such as Continue Watching to the TV’s home screen. That information stays on the TV.
Information kept on the TV
The app keeps its settings on the TV, including the server address, the choices you make in Settings → Jelly Cinema, and any profile PINs. PINs are stored only on that TV in a scrambled (hashed) form and are never sent anywhere. Uninstalling the app removes them.
Children
Jelly Cinema TV is meant to be set up by adults for their household. Accounts with a rating limit on the Jellyfin server only see titles within that limit everywhere in the app, and get Kids’ Home (bigger posters, no trailers) automatically. A profile can be protected with a PIN on the TV.
Not affiliated with Jellyfin
Jelly Cinema TV works with Jellyfin servers and is based on the open-source Jellyfin Android TV app, but it is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Jellyfin project.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version on this page and update the effective date above.
